Cleanup After Yourselves

In my line of work, it is easy to get lazy while developing. I have recently run across a client, who has 4 e-commerce sites installed on top of each other. 3 different backends, 9, yes 9 different databases! It took me over an hour to figure out which cart was actually being used, and which database.
Keep things separate, do not, oh please do not upload from a dev server to the live server without backing up the live server and clearing it out so you start fresh.
It saves yourself, and other developers oodles of time. It is one of the most important aspects of programming. Keep it clean.
